Warhol’s soup can portfolio was exhibited at the artist’s first solo show in the Ferus Gallery, Los Angeles. The prints were exhibited, resting on a mounted shelf as if in on display in a supermarket. Warhol also assigned flavours to the works by way of a list supplied by Campbell’s. The 32 flavours to feature in the show were sold by the Campbell’s Soup Company at the time. Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup I, Onion is from the second soup can portfolio produced in 1968.
